Unique is a music video from Portugal directed by Miguel Andrade and is inspired by a 1928 painting, The Lovers, by Rene Magritte. It is a mostly black and white video which begins with a lone woman contemplating life and love. Her actions and behavior lead her to dancing and interacting in a melodic and graceful way as the unknown, uncertainty and mystery of love finds her. A head and face cover worn by the woman adds a dimension of hesitancy, insecurity, and pause only to be confronted by her lover.  Various interpretations of their dance can be envisioned and expressed as the two lovers embrace and partake in a memorable pose and kiss.

Director Miguel Andrade

Miguel Andrade’s two passions in life are music and video. He’s been balancing an active life in music with a professional career in his area of training, economics, in which he has been specializing mainly in strategy and project management. Even though he started with music, he quickly realized that there is nothing more incredible than transforming the images inside his head into visual reality and, since then, he never dissociated one from the other!

Even though time is the biggest constraint, his professional experience has allowed him to achieve results in these hybrid projects.

In recent years, he recorded and played in a few bands, launched a solo project, directed music videos for several of these projects, co-created a music festival in his city – Porto, and created a YouTube channel to support emerging artists.

For me, there is nothing more incredible than transforming the images inside my head into visual reality.
